## Description

A Bosphorus cruise day trip is a different thing from the short tourist sail. You board in the morning, go up the entire Bosphorus to the Black Sea, stop in the fishing village of Anadolu Kavağı for a long fish lunch, and come back under the afternoon light. It's a seven-hour day with a 90-minute shore break, and for anyone with a free day in Istanbul it is one of the best versions of the city. The full-day Bosphorus itinerary 10:30 — board at Eminönü pier. 10:45–12:30 — sail up the Bosphorus, past Dolmabahçe, under both bridges, past Rumeli Fortress, through the middle Bosphorus with yalıs on both sides, into the mouth of the Black Sea. 12:30 — arrive at Anadolu Kavağı on the Asian shore. 12:30–15:00 — long fish lunch, walk up to the Yoros Castle ruins if you have the legs, coffee by the water. 15:00 — board for the return sail. 15:00–17:00 — sail back down the Bosphorus in the afternoon light. 17:00 — back at Eminönü. What you see on the full Bosphorus The short cruises only cover the lower Bosphorus — down to Rumeli Fortress and back. The full-day keeps going. You pass the middle Bosphorus with its wooden yalıs on both shores (the private waterfront mansions that were sultan-era weekend houses), the Belgrade Forest sliding past on your left, Garipçe lighthouse at the European mouth, and the open Black Sea opening up in front of the bow. The strait is 32 km total; the short sail covers 8 km, the full-day covers all of it. Lunch at Anadolu Kavağı Anadolu Kavağı is a small fishing village on the Asian mouth of the Bosphorus. The waterfront is lined with restaurants, each with the day's fish on display out front. The usual plate is grilled sea bass or bream with rice pilaf and salad for around 400–600 TL (€11–€18). Fried hamsi (anchovies) in autumn and winter are a local specialty worth asking for. We don't tie you to any specific restaurant — you walk the waterfront, pick where you like, pay the restaurant directly. If you've got energy, climb up to Yoros Castle — the Byzantine fortress ruins at the top of the hill. Thirty minutes up a steep walkway, fifteen minutes down, and the view from the top is the Black Sea on one side and the Bosphorus on the other. It's optional and completely free. Full-day Bosphorus cruise price Public ferry version (Şehir Hatları) — €35 adult, €18 child. Simple boat, large deck, lunch at your own cost at Anadolu Kavağı. The best value by far. Private tour boat version with guide — €55 adult, €30 child. Smaller boat, English commentary, lunch still at your own cost. Private yacht day charter — from €1200 for a group up to 10 guests, lunch catering included on board or at a specific Anadolu Kavağı restaurant. For most couples and families the public ferry version is the right call. The private yacht makes sense for groups of eight or more who want the day to themselves and a bespoke lunch. What to bring for a full day on the Bosphorus Sunscreen and a hat — eight hours of open deck is more sun than you think. A light jacket for the morning sail; the strait is a few degrees cooler than the shore. Cash in lira for lunch (card accepted at larger restaurants but cash is faster). Comfortable shoes if you plan to walk up to Yoros Castle. Water bottle — kept topped up from the boat's water cooler on the public ferry. Camera; the full strait is a photographer's day. Short answers Does the day trip run every day? Yes, year-round. In winter the sail is more sheltered but the stop at Anadolu Kavağı stays open. In rain, dress for it; the boats sail unless storm-force winds. Is there a toilet on board? Yes, on all day-trip boats. On the smaller tour boats it's a single cabin, so expect a short queue around lunch. Can I bring a stroller? Yes, foldable strollers are fine. There's deck space for them. The walkway up to Yoros Castle isn't stroller-friendly, so plan to leave it at the pier if you want to make the castle walk. Is there a shorter version? Yes — the afternoon cruise with lunch is a 2-hour version that stays in the lower Bosphorus. For a 90-minute sail only, see the short cruise from Galataport. What about the famous Golden Horn ferry? Different trip — the Golden Horn ferry runs from Eminönü up the inner estuary to Eyüp and Pierre Loti, not up the Bosphorus. Nice separately, not combined with the day trip.
